Background: Empirically papaya leaves have been used to address skin health problems such as acne. Papaya leaf extract contains alkaloids carpaine (antibacterial) and flavonoids (anti-inflammatory) which are thought to play a role as active compounds in overcoming acne. Papaya leaves are abundantly available in various regions in Indonesia. This potential can be utilized to make traditional preparations , one of which is serum.
Research Objectives: Testing the effect of temperature on the stability of serum preparations in room temperature storage (30°C) and cold temperatures (2-8°C)
Method: This study used an Action Research research design. Researchers tried to use papaya leaves as an ingredient in making serum and tried to find out the influence of temperature on the stability of the preparation so that stability tests were carried out at room temperature and cold temperatures.
Results: Showing the results of serum preparations of papaya leaf extract at cold temperature storage produce preparations that are stable in aroma and color until the 19th day. Meanwhile, papaya leaf extract serum at room temperature storage produces a pungent sour smell on the 11th day and there is mold.
Conclusion: Storage at cold temperatures produces preparations that are more stable in terms of color, smell, and pH compared to storage at room temperature.
